As one of the largest and most active Newman Centers in the nation, St. John’s Catholic Newman Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is home to the 8,000 Catholic Illini on campus. Offering daily Masses, Adoration, and Confessions, SJCNC also hosts a diverse set of ministry programs - ranging from Bible studies and retreats focused on the needs of college students to social events like Intramural Athletics and more. Programming

Freshman Retreat: Join freshmen from across campus for an evening of fun, prayer, and connection. Hear from sophomores about everything you need to know about making the most of your first year in college, and explore many options for staying centered in faith this year. The weekend is completely free, all meals and transportation are provided. 

Koinonia Retreats: Experience a community like no other on a retreat weekend for students, by students.

Service: Live your faith through service to others. Service & Justice Outreach performs volunteering, charitable works of mercy, homeless outreach, service and mission trips, a weekly food pantry exclusively for students in need, and more.

Bible Studies: Grow in faith and friendship through small group Bible studies, one-on-one peer mentoring, and monthly large group events.

Music Ministry: Join one of 5 student choirs, performing all types of sacred music, from traditional and chant to contemporary praise & worship.

Liturgical Ministries: Students serve all parts of the Mass at St. John's, from lectors and ushers to altar servers and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
